Director’s Notes
TAFFIN is a New York high jewellery house, founded by James de Givenchy in 1996. Born in Beauvais, north of Paris, de Givenchy is the nephew of the couturier Hubert de Givenchy. He established TAFFIN as a private salon, working by appointment and making unique jewels, many of them to commission. De Givenchy has always approached jewellery differently, pairing exceptional gemstones with unusual materials, rarely found in high jewellery. Rare gemstones often feature at the focus of the design and set in an unexpected way, such as this necklace. Made in 2003 as a private commission, a diamond of this size would usually be set formally, de Givenchy chose red silk. TAFFIN jewels are unique finely made and designed to be worn and why TAFFIN is so highly coveted by collectors of contemporary jewellery.
