September’s jewel from Hancocks London is an incredible showstopper of a ring featuring a 2.38ct Fancy Intense Yellow pear shape diamond.

The piece in question – n old cut fancy colour diamond gypsy set ring in 22ct yellow gold by Hancocks. The handcrafted ring is set to the centre with a 2.38ct antique pear cut diamond of Fancy Intense Yellow colour, set flush to a gypsy-style 22ct yellow gold setting with a brushed satin finish that tapers to the back and has a softly rounded profile.

First developed in 15th-century Belgium by the master cutter Lodewyk van Bercken, the pear shape has a distinguished history. Unlike most symmetrical cuts, its distinctive teardrop form combines the curves of a brilliant with the elongated point of a marquise.
