Jewel of The Month - October 2026
An important diamond necklace by TAFFIN has been chosen as Hancocks London’s Jewel of the Month for October.
The necklace was originally a private commission, made in 2003, and is centred on a magnificent 28.31ct old mine cushion cut diamond, G colour, VVS1 clarity. The diamond is claw set in platinum and attached to a twisted red silk cord, accented by pavé set diamond and platinum spacers, and secures to the reverse with a cylindrical pavé set diamond tongue and box clasp. It is signed TAFFIN and numbered.
TAFFIN is the exclusive New York-based jewellery house founded by James de Givenchy in 1996. Working from a private salon, the house makes unique jewels, many of them to commission. Born in Beauvais, north of Paris, James de Givenchy is the nephew of the legendary couturier Hubert de Givenchy. James de Givenchy has always approached jewellery differently, creating one-of-a-kind jewels that pair rare and exceptional gemstones with unexpected materials. His jewels are widely coveted and always distinctive, combining bold colour and sculptural form in pieces that challenge convention.
Guy Burton, Managing Director, Hancocks London, says: “This is an incredible piece of jewellery from one of the most important jewellers working today. Convention would dictate that a diamond of this size be set formally, but James de Givenchy has taken another path and set it on red silk, creating a contemporary masterpiece. It is a thrilling jewel, and unmistakably TAFFIN.
“TAFFIN jewels are highly prized and rarely come to the open market. This is the first TAFFIN jewel to join the Hancocks collection, and we are extremely proud and excited to show it. We have long admired the work of James de Givenchy, and this piece feels particularly perfect for us, with such a truly remarkable old cut diamond at its heart.”
The necklace is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from TAFFIN.
