Jewel of The Month - October 2025

SA rare late-Victorian diamond tiara prized for both its craftsmanship and convertible versatility has been chosen by Hancocks London as its Jewel of the Month for October.

Dated circa 1890, the tiara is designed with graduated alternating palmette, trefoil and collet motifs, all set throughout with 449 old mine cut diamonds weighing approximately 22 carats.

In keeping with Victorian design, the tiara detaches from its frame and can be worn as a magnificent necklace or cleverly converted into a jewelled hair comb.

It is quite rare to see one like this which has the extra conversion into a hair ornament on a comb. This tiara has been meticulously crafted, carefully preserved, and survives in exceptional condition.”  

The tiara is presented in its original fitted case by Collingwood & Co., the prestigious London jeweller which, like Hancocks, held Royal Warrants and was commissioned to create pieces for Queen Victoria and other members of the Royal Family.
