Jewel of The Month - January 2026

Earrings which capture the ingenuity of the Georgian era have been chosen as Hancocks London first Jewel of the Month for 2026.

These remarkable diamond pendeloque earrings, dated circa 1830, exemplify a period when jewellery was created to adapt effortlessly from daytime wear to candlelit evenings.

Each convertible chandelier earring is centred on a Georgian old cut pear shape diamond, suspended within an articulated frame of graduated old mine cut diamonds and surmounted by a classic old mine cut diamond cluster. The diamonds are all set in open-back, cut-down collets crafted in silver-topped gold, a hallmark of Georgian craftsmanship that allows light to pass freely through the diamonds, enhancing their natural character.

Georgian jewellery is some of the most sought-after jewellery for collectors both for its craftsmanship, timeless style, and rarity. Amy Burton, Creative Director, Hancocks London, explains: "What sets this pair of earrings apart from other Georgian examples is their extraordinary versatility and ingenuity. Most antique day to night earrings from this era would have two conversions, but these can be worn in three distinct ways: the diamond clusters alone, the clusters and the central drop, or the clusters, central drop and their articulated diamond frame, creating their full chandelier form. As a result, they are incredibly rare and just a wonderful example of a jewel that is as adaptable today as it was nearly two centuries ago."
