Julius Cohen (1914 – 1995) founded his eponymous business in New York in 1956 after many years working in the trade.  He began aged 16 when he joined his uncle’s company, Oscar Heyman Bros, where he stayed for thirteen years learning all he could about both the design and manufacture of fine jewellery.

In 1942 he joined Harry Winston where he was responsible for developing new markets, this work gave him a detailed insight into what clients wanted from their jewellery and also from their jeweller.  In establishing his own firm, Julius’s intention was to combine all the technical and personal skills he had acquired over the previous decades in order to offer his clients the finest jewellery married with the very best service.  He succeeded and whilst his jewellery won him accolades including the coveted Diamonds-International Jewellery Design Award, it was his passion, charm and sense of humour that developed and maintained his loyal and devoted client base.  Now under the creative direction of the third generation, the firm remains in New York creating jewellery in the spirit of their founder.
