4.09ct Vintage Carré Cut Diamond Ring With Trapezoid Shoulders

An old cut diamond and platinum ring by Hancocks. This handcrafted ring has a 4.09ct vintage carré cut diamond in the centre, corner claw set in platinum and set between shoulders with trapezoid and tapered baguette diamonds, these create a graduated angular stepped look perfectly echoing the straight geometric appearance of the facets on the carré-cut centre stone, all in a finely hand crafted platinum mount with square section band.

Director’s Notes

This is a very rare Carré cut diamond dating from the Art Deco period. It is a four-sided unlike it's step cut cosuins (emerald cuts and asscher cuts which are octagonal with cut corners). This creates a beautifully pure step cut facetting which draws your eye to the centre of the stone. Many of these old Carré  cut diamonds were repolished into the more commercial emerald and asschers cuts later in the 20th Century, so we truly treasure such a remarkable stone such as this.
