“Some pieces I can visualize so perfectly that I almost loose interest to do them. Others I have to draw or just start working in wax or metal until it reveals itself. That is by far more interesting.”

Pedro Boregaard grew up in Munich in what he describes as a “very artsy and liberal” environment. After leaving school he trained with the jewellery firm Hemmerle in Munich before moving to England in 1966 and working as a jeweller in London and Nottingham. In 1974 he moved to New York and began working with Tiffany & Co where he describes his primary focus as the development and execution of the creations of Tiffany’s star designers, Paloma Picasso, Elsa Peretti and Angela Cummings.
In 1983 he left Tiffany to set up his own workshop at 48th Street overlooking the Rockefeller Centre and was mentored by the veteran New York jeweller Julius Cohen. He gradually built a successful business and his designs won various international awards. Before long his jewellery was to be found in stores such as Bergdorf Goodman and Barney’s where it reached an ever increasing clientele.
In 1994 he moved premises and opened a new showroom and workshop on 53rd Street and Madison Avenue. After nearly ten years here he moved once again splitting the business between Broadway and Lafayette where he relocated the workshop and his home of Narrowsburg in western New York state where he set up his design studio. In 2011 he opened a shop at 101 Main Street in Narrowsburg where he continues to work creating interesting and beautiful jewels today.
