Director’s Notes

The Albert chain is said to have been named after Prince Albert, Queen Victoria’s consort who was said to be particularly partial to this style of watch chain. The T-bar would have been worn attached through the buttonhole of the waistcoat. Today this style can be seen often worn as a necklace, it is incredibly popular and many would consider an essential for any jewellery box. Finding an antique Albert chain in 18ct gold is more unusual and this example has a lovely weight and is in excellent condition showcasing beautiful Victorian craftmanship with hallmarks on all links.
